Richard Harpel has a national perspective on higher education. He was most recently the director of federal relations at National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges at the end of this month. (Founded in 1887, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, NASULGC, is the nation's oldest higher education association. It is dedicated to supporting excellence in teaching, research and public service.)

Previously Rich was at the University of Colorado originally at the Boulder campus as the director of institutional research and later as the federal relations director for the University of Colorado system.
