Patricia A. Jessup
Patricia A. Jessup is an education consultant living in Ann Arbor, MI. She works with InSites and other organizations. Jessup is currently working on InSites’ evaluation of the U.S.-China Teacher Exchange Program, Technology Use in Professional Development about Asia, Learning through Engineering Design, and Communities of Learning, Inquiry and Practice. Earlier work with InSites included involvement in the evaluation of programs focused on science education, coaching for school improvement, professional development, and Asian studies.
Jessup also is part of a team conducting an evaluation of the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative, a place-based education effort to foster stewardship of the Great Lakes among K-12 students, teachers, and community partners.
For over seven years, Jessup was a member of an evaluation team studying the implementation of Middle Start—a comprehensive improvement initiative for schools with middle grades developed through a partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Academy for Educational Development, and numerous Michigan based educational, professional development, and service organizations. Middle Start focuses on improving student learning and achievement of all students through on-site coaching for school leadership teams, building collaborative leadership and learning communities, and an emphasis on rigorous curriculum, instruction, and student assessment.
Jessup has conducted qualitative research on issues at the interface of special education, early childhood education, and education policy including a study of policy and practices for children with disabilities in Head Start.
Earlier in her career, Jessup was a clinical social worker, counseling families, couples, and individuals. Dr. Jessup holds a Ph.D. in Education (University of Michigan), an M.S.W. (University of Michigan), and a B.A. in Social Work (University of Wisconsin-Madison).
