Welcome

In this module, we describe what a Community of Learning, Inquiry, and Practice (CLIP) is and how it operates. A CLIP is similar to other communities of practice that you may know about but is different in that it is framed around a particular inquiry process.

By participating in a CLIP, you can:

  • answer questions you have about teaching, learning, and student success
  • build relationships with colleagues in an enjoyable atmosphere
  • strengthen your research and decision-making skills
  • learn how colleagues are supporting student learning and success
  • generate support for making changes that help students
  • creatively enhance you ways of encouraging student learning and success
  • benefit from your college's focus on assessment

At the end of the module, you will be able to identify:

  • the definition of a CLIP
  • the purpose of a CLIP
  • benefits for faculty, students, and the college as a whole
  • how a CLIP operates including its yearly schedule
  • phases of a CLIP inquiry process
  • eight guiding principles for a CLIP
  • how to get involved in a CLIP

We hope that this module will motivate you to participate in a CLIP focused on a topic of importance to you.
