In this module, we describe what a Community of Learning, Inquiry, and Practice (CLIP) is and how it operates. A CLIP is similar to other communities of practice that you may know about but is different in that it is framed around a particular inquiry process.
By participating in a CLIP, you can:
answer questions you have about teaching, learning, and student success
build relationships with colleagues in an enjoyable atmosphere
strengthen your research and decision-making skills
learn how colleagues are supporting student learning and success
generate support for making changes that help students
creatively enhance you ways of encouraging student learning and success
benefit from your college's focus on assessment
At the end of the module, you will be able to identify:
the definition of a CLIP
the purpose of a CLIP
benefits for faculty, students, and the college as a whole
how a CLIP operates including its yearly schedule
phases of a CLIP inquiry process
eight guiding principles for a CLIP
how to get involved in a CLIP
We hope that this module will motivate you to participate in a CLIP focused on a topic of importance to you.
