Cross Case Features: Context

Kaiser Middle School: State Context

The state standards provide instructional guidance to the state’s teachers. They include standards for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The state test is aligned with these standards, and students are tested in writing, reading, mathematics, and science every year in grades three through ten. Some teachers believe a Social Studies test is coming in the near future. Grade level expectations developed by the state and linked to the standards “further define” what students should know and be able to do. In middle school, the Social Studies standards call for teaching about Asia in the seventh grade.
