Cross Case Features: Teachers

NCTA targets middle and high school teachers of history, geography, world cultures, social studies, and language arts and literature. By 2003, more than 3,500 teachers in 42 states had participated in nearly 200 seminars.

Here you will find short profiles of teachers who have fostered Asian studies in their classrooms and schools. The NCTA teachers are grouped by case study school under four main subject areas: Social Studies; Language Arts; Art; and Media.

Social Studies includes teachers of
World History, Global Studies, Humanities, Psychology, World Cultures, Geography, etc.
Language Arts includes teachers of
World Literature, British Literature, English Literature, Foreign Languages, Communications, Video Technology, etc.
Art includes teachers of
Art, Ceramics, Pottery, Photography, Visual Arts, etc.

Media teachers includes
librarians and media specialists.

The middle school and high school matrices on this page contain clickable links to the information about teachers. Case study schools are listed on the left side of the chart. The four subject areas are arrayed across the top. Click on the dot for the school and subject area you’re interested in. You will see the information displayed on-screen and you can scroll down to view it.

Within either the Middle School contexts or the High School contexts, you can use the “quad” arrow at the top left of the screen to move between subject areas or schools. To view a different subject area for the same school, click on the left or right arrow on the “quad” arrow. To view information about the same subject area for a different school, click on the up or down arrows on the quad arrow. Note that you can only get from the Middle School contexts to the High School contexts by going back to the Teacher Matrix.
