Cross Case Features: Context
As the case studies show, you can teach about Asia in many different school contexts. NCTA teachers come from schools in small towns and urban, rural, and suburban communities. District and state policies affect what they teach about Asia. Administrative support affects how they spread their knowledge beyond their own classrooms.
Here you can find out about the context for a case study school and see how it relates to that of the other schools. You can view information under five topics: Community, School, District, State, and Administrative Support. Not every case will have information on all five.
The Case-Context Matrices on this page contains clickable links to the information. Case study schools are listed on the left side of the matrix. The five topics are arrayed across the top. Click on the dot for the school and topic you’re interested in. You will see the information displayed on-screen and you can scroll down to view it.
Within either the Middle School contexts or the High School contexts, you can use the “quad” arrow at the top left of the screen to move between topics or schools. To view a different topic for the same school, click on the left or right arrow on the quad-arrow. To view information about the same topic for a different school, click on the up or down arrows on the quad-arrow. To return to the context matrix click on the dot in the center of the quad-arrow. Note that you can get from the Middle School contexts to the High School contexts, and vice versa, only by going back to this Case-Context Matrix page.
