Two of your main tasks are to create your college’s CLIP application form, then help faculty use it to apply to create a CLIP. The application asks the applicant to give a short description of a CLIP’s focus and approach.
In your review of an application, make sure that the faculty members have a focused question for the inquiry. At the same time, it’s okay if some of the ideas they put in their application are tentative because it is expected that a plan will evolve as the group undertakes the inquiry.
Look for evidence that the inquiry can be conducted within the budget they have set for the CLIP work. If you know of other people who would be good to include as members or to consult, let them know. Also work with each CLIP to identify one member of the CLIP as the CLIP Facilitator. This is the main person you coordinate with to ensure that CLIP members have the assistance they need.
The final decision about which CLIPs are selected to participate rests with the oversight committee at your college. In making the decision, the committee considers what combination of CLIPs will be most helpful in building a culture of inquiry and evidence-based teaching and learning to enhance student learning and success. |
